It’s that time of year when most of us are feeling the winter blues, yes; even despite the unprecedented amount of blue-sky days we have had this season. Dreaming of jetting off to warmer weather and sunnier skies? Our guest design blogger, Anne Hepfer is giving us all a chance to escape to a tranquil world of calming colours, and giving us a whole new meaning to the term ‘winter blues’.
Singing the Blues
Blue. The colour of the ocean at dawn and starry nights. Dusk at the lake. Shadows on snow. A first car. Your favourite pair of jeans. Your grandmother’s china.
There are so many associations with hues of blue. Bright blues are a magical accent in any space. Paler washes lend a peaceful vibe to any room. Whether it’s a navy trim on a curtain edge, a cobalt platter, lacquered blue walls, crisp indigo and white ikat cushions or even a lush arrangement of fresh cut hydrangeas in a white kitchen, find your particular blue. I love periwinkle for girls’ bedrooms!
PS. The Blue Dragon is on stage at the Mirvish’s Royal Alexandra Theatre until the end of this week (February 19th)…check it out!
